If your solver study looks like this — open PioSOLVER, rebuild last night’s hand, stare at a 13×13 grid, close it, remember nothing — the Garrett Adelstein solver method in this one-minute video is the fix. He calls the sim-per-hand habit “wildly inefficient,” and he has the results to say so: 15 years winning millions in live cash on Live at the Bike and Hustler Casino Live.

⚡ In one line: Keep 5–6 standard solver configurations, map every real hand onto the closest one, then grade the live decision against that baseline. That is the “Part 2” method behind the 35 PioSOLVER audits in Destroy Live Cash.
What the Video Shows
The clip is built from the Part 2 of Hand 1 in Destroy Live Cash, where Garrett explains his setup before the first solver audit. Instead of a fresh sim for every hand, he studies from a small set of configurations — single-raised pots, 3-bet pots, 4-bet pots, always with a one-big-blind ante, straddles treated as the big blind — and maps each hand from his career onto the nearest one. The point is not accuracy to the decimal; it is a baseline you can actually carry to the table. Every one of the 35 Part 2 videos in the course follows this pattern: the sim on screen, the GTO baseline, then an honest grade of what Garrett did live — including the hands he now says he played badly.
Two things make the method different from a normal solver tutorial. First, it is paired with a plain-English Part 1 on every hand, so you can skip the solver entirely and still learn the read. Second, it feeds a four-question process — theory baseline, what the player does differently, strength of evidence, size of the deviation — so the sim is never the answer, only the reference. For the concept behind that split, read our guide on GTO vs exploitative poker; for the mechanics of getting a solver to reflect a live game, see how to use PioSOLVER in real games.
Where This Fits in the Course
- Hand 1, Part 2 — the configuration method and how to read the EV numbers on a Pio output (source of this video)
- Hand 7, Part 2 — the 4-bet war vs Art run through the sim years later; the ironic result is in our Destroy Live Cash review
- Hand 18, Part 2 — LJ vs BB single-raised pot: what the flop demands vs what Andy’s real turn line was
- Extras — 13 Deep Stack Preflop Range sets built with the Lucid Poker team in Hold’em Resources Calculator, so the preflop baseline matches ante, deep-stack live games
The bonus course Rapid Fire Poker deliberately has no Part 2: 10 hands, one takeaway each, no solver. If the video above felt like too much, that is the entry point; if it felt like exactly what you have been missing, the 50-hand course is the destination.
Garrett’s Method vs the Other Live Cash Courses
Nick Petrangelo’s Smash Live Cash teaches the opposite architecture — node-lock the villain and build your own sims, with 4,808 preflop charts. Uri Peleg’s Elite Cash Game Exploits is the online-leaning exploit framework. Charlie Carrel’s Live Tells skips the solver entirely. We put all three next to Garrett in Destroy Live Cash vs Smash Live Cash vs Live Tells, and rank the field in best live poker courses. The short version: Smash builds the machine, Destroy shows a master operating one with the mistakes left in.
