📚 Course Structure — 5 Parts
| Part | Content |
|---|---|
| Part 1 | Tournament opening — field composition at the 2000 Euro EPT level, early table image construction, positional opening adjustments vs. strong regulars |
| Part 2 | Middle stage hands — deep-stack euro tournament dynamics, when to fold speculative hands vs. regulars in early-position squeezes |
| Part 3 | Stack management and aggression calibration — when to apply pressure, when 8-6 suited folds from second position even at EPT events |
| Part 4 | Late stage decision points — navigating a strong field when opponents can exploit any detectable pattern |
| Part 5 | Final stages before bust — the key hands from Jonathan’s 7th-place exit, what he would play differently and why |
🎯 EPT vs. Standard Live Tournament — Key Differences
| Factor | Standard Live MTT | EPT Barcelona (2000 Euro) |
|---|---|---|
| Field Skill Level | Mixed — many recreational | High — mostly regulars and pros |
| Starting Stack Depth | 100–150bb typical | Deep — slower structure, longer levels |
| Pattern Exploitation Risk | Low — opponents miss most tells | High — good players detect and adjust |
| Early Position Range | Moderately wide | Tighter — even 8-6s is a fold |
💡 What Makes This Review Unique
Real 7th-place result: Jonathan narrates a documented deep run at one of poker’s most prestigious series — not a training hand or constructed example. Every hand carried real money consequences.
EPT field construction insight: Jonathan explains how PokerStars’ approach to organizing the EPT series changed the field composition versus earlier years — and how that changes optimal early-stage strategy at these events.
Marginal hand discipline at high stakes: The Part 3 segment on 8-6 suited from early position is specifically notable — Jonathan demonstrates that even hands commonly played at lower stakes become easy folds at the EPT level.
