The Climb, In Facts
He started in 2016 at 5NL. Over millions of hands he moved through every limit of PokerStars Zoom and ended up a regular in 1000NL and 2000NL games. Along the way he coached for Run It Once Elite in No Limit Hold’em, founded Metagame, and built a staking operation that backs players with the operation’s own money.
That last detail matters more than any of the others. When a coach’s teaching is wrong, the coach loses reputation. When a backer’s teaching is wrong, the backer loses cash. Saulo has been operating under the second incentive for years, and his entire methodology is shaped by it.
He Builds The Instruments First
This is the part almost nobody knows, and it is the strongest reason to take his material seriously.
The Grind Simulator
Public data on poker timing tells barely exists. So Saulo coded a training environment, put his students inside it against bots, and over roughly a year collected more than one million hands with the timing of every single click recorded. He did not find the dataset. He manufactured it.
Automatic multi-river node locking
Standard solver work locks one node and shows you one adjustment. Saulo wrote software that locks multiple rivers simultaneously — which reveals how your flop and turn strategy should change today because of an imbalance that only surfaces three streets later. Very few people in poker are working at that level, and fewer still are teaching it.
Population research at scale
His fish-exploit work runs on a Hand2Note research database of over 250 million hands across every major site. His reg-exploit work uses a tighter alias — 1000NL and higher on GG Poker, 2024 hands only, roughly 46 million of them — because advanced pools shift fastest and stale data on tough opponents is worse than no data.
Theory mined as statistics
Rather than reading solver trees, he loads GTO hand histories into Hand2Note and filters them exactly as you filter your own database. The answer comes back as a stat you already know how to read, not a heat map you have to interpret. It is why his theory videos run six minutes instead of sixty.
The Method, In Four Steps
Saulo has said openly that he did not want an intuitive process — he wanted something systematic enough to hand to other people and have it still work. Every course he has produced follows the same chain:

Step four is where most technical coaches fail. An answer you cannot execute in three seconds is not an answer. Saulo’s entire framework reduces postflop play to two decisions — pick a size from your pool, pick a frequency bucket for your hand class — and everything he teaches exists to make those two selections automatic.

Does His Coaching Actually Produce Players?
The strongest evidence is a person. Max Lacerda was Saulo’s first private student — a live cash player in Brazil who spent a large share of his bankroll on coaching and started online at NL25. Within the same year he became Metagame’s first coach. Today he is a partner in the operation, its head coach, and plays mid and high stakes himself.
