Saulo Costa Timing Tells Blueprint — read the clock, not the soul. A data-built exploit system for snap and tank timings on every street.

The Saulo Costa Timing Tells Blueprint is the only course of its kind built on a purpose-made dataset rather than table feel. Saulo coded his own training environment — the Grind Simulator — put his students inside it against bots, and over roughly a year collected more than one million hands of tracked actions with the timing of every single click. That database became solver models, and those models became the exploits taught here across 7 modules and 19 videos.

Why Timing Tells Are Inevitable

Module 1 does something almost no exploit course bothers with: it proves the tell has to exist before selling you the adjustment. Two causes, both structural.

The focus and attention problem. Nobody actually plays 8 tables simultaneously — you alternate, one decision at a time, and you unconsciously prioritise by hand strength. Timing out with aces costs multiple big blinds; timing out with T8o from the hijack costs exactly nothing. Every reg on the site runs that same algorithm, and it leaks range information on every early-street action.

The difficulty of decision problem. Opening aces on the button takes half a second. Deciding whether third pair becomes a river bluff-raise on a flush-completing runout takes fifteen. Different hands carry different decision cost, so timing distorts the probability distribution of the range whether the player likes it or not.

The numbers that started it

From the Grind Simulator database, the effect on a single preflop node: without accounting for timing, players folded to 3-bets 65% of the time. When their RFI came in at 1.5 seconds or faster, that dropped to 58%. When their RFI took 9 seconds or longer, it rose to 70%. The 4-bet response moved the same way — 10.5% baseline, 14% after a snap RFI, 8.4% after a tank RFI. Same player pool, same spot, one variable: the clock.

Saulo Costa Timing Tells Blueprint — The Methodology

Saulo is explicit that this is not a collection of hunches. The exploits were produced by the same four-step process he uses for every system he builds: gather data → build solver models from the data → study the model output → convert the output into heuristics and protocols. The problem was step one — public timing data barely exists. So he built the data source himself.

One scoping note that matters: everything in the course concerns regulars. Recreational players display timing tells too, but there is no data behind them, so they are deliberately excluded. This is a course about beating the people who beat everyone else.

Three best practices that keep you out of trouble

1. Attack the extremes only. Very fast and very slow carry the information. Mildly quick and mildly long are ambiguous and get ignored — the course gives you the exact second-thresholds per action type and explains why they shift by street and by format.
2. Threshold adjustments first. Small reads earn small adjustments. A big adjustment on a small read makes you the exploitable one, and a handful of failures wipes out the edge.
3. Build the habit before the edge. An exploit you only remember when you feel like it is worth nothing at volume.

Coverage: Snap vs Tank On Every Node

Street / Node Snap timing Tank timing
RFI Module 2.1 — full exploit set Module 2.2 — full exploit set
3-bet Module 3.1 Module 3.2
4-bet Module 4.1 Module 4.2
Flop Bets (5.1) and calls (5.2) analysed separately
Turn Calls (6.1), checks (6.2) and bets (6.3) — three dedicated videos
River Check tells OOP (7.1) — where the adjustment shifts from bluffing to value betting

The river module contains the most counter-intuitive finding in the course. The snap check and the tank check on the river hold visibly different range compositions — different weights of low pairs, of two-pair-plus, of missed draws — and yet the two profiles fold at almost identical frequencies in both small and large pots. That mismatch between range and behaviour is exactly where the money is, and it flips the entire river adjustment away from where most players would look for it.

Your opponents are giving this away for free. Every hand.

Who Should Buy This

This is for you if…

You already have a solid baseline strategy and your problem is that regs know exactly what you are doing. Timing exploits sit on top of a competent game — they are an overlay, not a foundation. If you are still fixing preflop and c-bet leaks, start with the Lowstakes Blueprint or the GTO Blueprint and come back to this one.

The red line connection

When Saulo first ran these exploits on himself — attacking tank RFIs, 3-bets and 4-bets far more aggressively than anyone around him — his non-showdown line reached a level he had never touched in years of full-time grinding. That is exactly the territory covered in The Redline Blueprint and Dose of Red Line, which pair naturally with this course.

About the coach

Saulo Costa (sauloCosta10) started in 2016 at 5NL and climbed every limit of PokerStars Zoom across millions of hands. He is a regular in 1k–2kNL games, founder of Metagame, a former Run It Once Elite NLHE coach, and runs his own staking stable — which is precisely why he built the Grind Simulator instead of guessing. The dataset behind this course exists because he needed it for his own students.

Quick Quiz — Do You Understand Timing Tells?

1. Where does the data behind this course come from?

The Grind Simulator — a training environment Saulo coded himself, in which his students played over one million hands against bots across roughly a year while every action and its timing was tracked.

2. What are the two structural causes of timing tells?

The focus and attention problem — you prioritise stronger hands when multitabling — and the difficulty of decision problem — harder decisions simply take longer to make.

3. “He just got distracted, so the timing means nothing.” True or false?

False, and Module 1.5 dismantles it. You are far less likely to get distracted while holding a premium. The distraction itself is evidence about hand strength, not a reason to discard the read.

4. Which timings should you actually act on?

Only the extremes — very fast and very slow. Intermediate timings are ambiguous. The course provides the exact second-thresholds per action type, and explains why they change by street and format.

5. Does the course cover recreational players?

No — deliberately. Recreationals show timing tells too, but there is no data supporting them, so the entire course is scoped to regulars.

Everyone sees the timings. Almost nobody knows what to do with them.
