Who he is

Who Is thejericho2?

A Run It Once Elite pro who learned aggression the hard way.

thejericho2 is a high-stakes No Limit Hold’em cash game professional who has spent years battling at stakes up to NL5K. Run It Once describes him as one of the toughest mid- and high-stakes regulars in the game, a long-time Run It Once Elite instructor and a coach who has worked with dozens of players.

On camera he is direct, funny and openly confident. He calls Red Line Mastery the best complete poker course he knows, then hands the verdict back to the viewer: “You can be the judge of it.” He also coaches the way he teaches. Several times in the course he says he has gone through students’ databases to find their leaks, for example players folding far too many hands to 4-bets, and the course’s structure follows the mistakes he sees most often.

His home turf is online 6-max cash. The live plays in his course run on GGPoker and PokerStars, from 200NL Rush & Cash and 200NL Zoom to 500NL and 1kNL regular tables, and he says he grinds up to 2kNL.

Career

From NL2 Nit to NL5K

The path that shaped how thejericho2 coaches.

Start

NL2, 24 tables, full ring

A self-described nit relying almost entirely on showdown winnings.

Grind

About a million hands at NL50

Roughly 0.5 bb/100 after moving to 6-max. “I was a slave to the board.”

Wall

Stuck between 100NL and 200NL

15 to 20 shots at 200NL, most of them lost in the first session.

Turn

One summer to change his style

He studies the fearless regs, starts raising, calling down and bluffing, and the red line keeps his graph afloat.

Peak

500NL, 1kNL, 2kNL, then NL5K

The red line style wins at 500NL to 2kNL; at 5kNL he reports a break-even red line.

What makes him unusual as a coach is that he did not start aggressive. In the course he talks about being “nitty” with risk, money and people as well as at the tables, and says that exploring the red line style in 2017 and 2018 changed his life away from poker too: more sociable, more open, less afraid to spend. His own summary: “Nitty at the tables, nitty in life.”

Why it matters to you

A coach who was always aggressive can tell you what to do. A coach who used to be a nit can tell you why you aren’t doing it yet, and that is the gap most stuck regs need closed.

The full, step-by-step version of this story, with the numbers from each stage, is in our Red Line Mastery index review.

In his words

His Coaching Philosophy in 7 Quotes

Taken from the Red Line Mastery transcripts, with the lesson each one comes from.

“So it’s basically 50% of your winnings.”

thejericho2 · Lesson 1.1

His case for studying non-showdown winnings, the red line, as seriously as made hands.

“When you know GTO, that’s when you can deviate.”

thejericho2 · Lesson 1.1

Exploits only work once you know the baseline. His core is solver-based; the deviations come second.

“I was a slave to the board.”

thejericho2 · Lesson 2.3

How he describes his old showdown-only game: no made hand, no money.

“No risk, no money.”

thejericho2 · Lesson 11.2

On getting money in with low equity and being at peace with it when it goes wrong.

“I don’t think you need a HUD to play online poker.”

thejericho2 · Lesson 11.5

He dropped his HUD in mid-2019 on a friend’s advice and never went back.

“Improvise, adapt, and overcome.”

thejericho2 · Lesson 14.3

What he tells every student about a game whose meta never stops changing.

“The biggest recipe for success is hard work and putting in the reps. Trust the process.”

— thejericho2, lesson 14.3 Am I Still a Nit?

How he works

How thejericho2 Studies Poker

The four-step review loop he uses himself and gives to his students.

01

Tag after every session

He marks troublesome hands in Holdem Manager 3 right after he plays, starting with the biggest pots he lost, and keeps it to roughly 8 to 12 hands so review never turns into an all-day job.

02

Pick the right solver

Blind vs blind spots go into GTO Wizard; 3-bet pots usually go into PioSOLVER. Chapter 12 of his course shows both routines on screen.

03

Check the stats, not the graph

He looks at his stats after every session, again weekly and again monthly, to tell running bad from playing bad.

04

One leak, one week

He picks the spot that hurts most, tags every hand from it for a week, solves the interesting ones and writes down what to change, then moves to the next spot.

This is the routine he teaches in chapters 11 and 12 of Run It Once Red Line Mastery. If you want to build the same habit with a solver, start with our guide on using PioSOLVER in real games and the GTO Wizard courses guide.

Is thejericho2 the Right Coach for You?

His style suits a specific kind of player.

Learn from him if you…

  • ✓You play online 6-max NLHE cash and want to move up
  • ✓You win at showdown but lose the pots you don’t show down
  • ✓You want a coach who explains the transition, not just the end result
  • ✓You like solver-based play with practical deviations
  • ✓You play GGPoker Rush & Cash, PokerStars Zoom or regular tables

Look elsewhere if you…

  • ✕You are brand new and need the basics first
  • ✕You play tournaments, PLO or live cash
  • ✕You want to stay at 100NL without studying
  • ✕You want pure population exploits with no GTO base

Other red line voices on Elite Poker Guide approach the topic differently. Saulo Costa treats a poor red line as a symptom of specific leaks in The Redline Blueprint, and Robmaf builds plans per opponent in the Redline Ninja Course. For the theory behind all of them, read blue line vs red line vs green line.

EPG editor’s take

Pick thejericho2 when you want breadth and a coach who has lived the switch from nit to aggressive reg. Pick a narrower red line course when you already know which leak you need to fix.
